Going Batty
Thursday, March 8th, 2012Wow, was it nice today, sunny and warm, and I loved having the wind in my face! I went walking with Mom and Patrick again over lunchtime. They took me to some paths on Brook street near a pond and waterfall. Mom and Patrick sat there for a long time talking and enjoying the sun. I took the opportunity for a little TT meditation as the wind blew my fur back on my face. I sat still for a long time. Then we went on another path further down the road. There was a little pond with ducks that flew away when I ran up to them. I could smell horses and other animals and we saw a hawk fly down the path right in front of us.
There was a stream that crossed the path and the only way we could get over was to walk across a log. I was scared and nervous, but Mom called me and I DID IT! I didn’t even fall in!
On the way back almost to the road Mom noticed a funny bird flying ahead of us. She realized soon after that it was a BAT! I heard her say that bats out in the daytime are bad news. This thing was flying up and down the path and buzzed us 3 or 4 times. I was really glad I had my rabies shot at that moment! But I was really worried about Mom and Patrick. Mom put her hood up and walked faster to get out of the woods away from the crazy bat. Patrick picked up a big stick to Bat the Bat just in case it landed on us! I never saw my humans in such a hurry to get OUT of the woods 🙂
We got home just in time for me to greet the bus. I was so tired from exploring all those new smells that I crashed on the couch on my favorite blanket, while the rest of my family attended to their own stuff.
I might just dream of bats tonight 😉
