Tibetan Meditation…
Sometimes, at least once per day, I like to go out into my fenced back yard and meditate. I sit still as a statue and look off into space. I listen to the birds and sniff the air. Sometimes though, I am so lost in thought I don’t listen at all. Like today when Mom came out looking for me and snuck right up on me. She said my name and I about jumped out of my skin!
She wonders if I meditate….
My favorite thing to do is sit very very very still, especially when my people have to be someplace and want me in the house so they can leave. They call, and I become a statue. At this time of year it is awesome, I blend right in with all the birch and cherry leaves on the ground. They can not see me unless they come out looking and even then if I am still enough their eyes might wander right past me. They call. I don’t respond. Then just as the frustration is building I hear my favorite word… COOKIE? I still don’t budge, just out of principle. They usually say again COOKIE? I do my best Garfield impersonation. Finally fed up they walk back to the house. Now the race is on and I usually beat them to the door. I sit there as cute as I can and silently ask COOKIE? Sometimes I get lucky and get one even though I did not respond as I should have. Sometimes I don’t and just get asked to go in my crate so they can leave. It’s always worth a shot.
Mom would like to hear from other families who might have a meditatin Tibetan Terrier. Do they all do this? Is it in their genes? Does your TT meditate? Watch closely, you just might catch them doing it.
Take time to hear the whispers from within…

Hi,
It is great to read your blog about your beautiful tibetan. I, too, bought a tibetan from Nina 14 years ago. Your family reminds me of mine with 2 young boys. We’re from NJ but my kids went to camp in New Hampshire and after visiting weekend, we stopped at Nina’s and picked up our dog. It appears you are giving Jesse the same life we gave Sneakers.
Sneakers did “meditate” in our yard. She just sat in the grass and stared all around her. She was at total peace. She always reacted when we called her until recently. We, then, had to come very close to her for her to hear us.
On a very sad and painful note, Sneakers passed away 4 weeks ago. It was 11 days before her 14th birthday and came as a sudden and unexpected passing. My boys are now 22 and 25 and the younger son just graduated college.
We are actually “dreaming” about getting another one from Nina and your pics are just great. Sneakers was gray and white and always looked like a miniature sheep dog. Her personality sounds just like Jesse’s. The pain of living without her is excruciating which is why we are contemplating another one.
Please e-mail me as much information about Jesse as you can and the colors and sizes of the dogs Nina is currently breeding. I am in touch with her and told her that Sneakers died. I also sent her pictures. I would love to hear from you. If you want, you can include your phone number in your e-mail as I would love to talk to you as well.
Thanks so much and you sound just like my family,
Beth Newman

Thank you for enlightening me on your day Jessie. I would love to meditate with you some time to experience your world, and share mine with you. I love to get cookies from Mom too, but we use different words that are hard to understand, even for me. It was wonderful to meet you and I could tell you are a happy creature in a happy home.
To Mom and Beth.
Moms are wonderful, and to nurture an animal TT or otherwise on top of raising children is a beautiful thing. When I was a teen, wee had a wonderful Male Cat named Sneakers. A long haired intelligent black cat with white feet and bib. My brother named him Sneakers because the white on his feet went up to his knees in his hind legs. I asked him why Sneakers? He said: Cuz if you look at him he is wearing sneakers; low tops in front and high tops in back. He was a great pet; one of the rare few cats that trust enough to enjoy a good belly rub.
Regards,
Patrick

Hi Jessie,
Our Mom and Dad have been reading your stories…we all love them! My name is Om (I’m a 6 year old
TT) and my “new” little sister is Little Moon. We have been together only since the summer. My older
TT companions, Tenzing and Lily Bay went to the Rainbow Bridge last winter. Tenzing had CCL and
Lily had lymphoma. I missed them so very very much and so didn’t Mom and Dad. They love TT’s and
knew how sad I was…so we looked very hard to find a litter that would be healthy and ready for the
summer! We made lots of visits to Stowe, Vt. and really checked out the breeder. Her name is Wendyll
and she knows Nina. In fact, Little Moon’s mom was born at Nina’s! Mom and Dad asked to tell you
how special TT’s are and that they have been guardians of TT’s for 15 years! So many of the things you
do, Tenzing, Lily, Little Moon and I do! Mom thinks that you look just like Little Moon (she’s still in
her puppy coat though). I’m black with a little white…Tenzing and Lil were too! Maybe we can be
“Paw Pals”…”woof”? Well, I have to rest and make sure that Little Moon is OK.
